Starting the New Year Right Ride

11:00am Tuesday January 1, 2019

Another great turnout for the annual January 1 ride. There was a brisk wind but riders kept arriving eager to hit the trails. Snow depth prevented us from making it to Island Lake for lunch so we stopped in a clearing along the way to gather around the campfire then headed down to trails around King Eddy, Hidden and Bear Lakes for some epic snowy trail riding.

Every year we drag ourselves out for a ride to welcome in the new year. This year we’ll ride from King Edward Rd on Highway 6, starting at 11:00am January 1, 2019 to see how far we can get.

As with any winter ride come prepared for the weather and winter riding conditions. We’ll have a campfire at lunch time if you like to bring something to roast over the fire.

Ride difficulty will be beginner to intermediate, largely depending on snow depth and how slippery the trails are. The trails themselves aren’t that difficult but with our recent warm temperatures it can make for slippery conditions.

Rides are open to everyone, we encourage you to come out for a couple of rides with the club to meet other riders, find new trails and get a sense of the club before you join.

The Vernon ATV Club promotes responsible all terrain vehicle use. Riders must must carry proof of $200,000 liability insurance for riding on forest service roads, driver’s license and quad riders must wear a helmet (side x side riders aren’t required by law to wear helmets but we recommend they do).
