Longest Day of the Year Ride 2018

An annual tradition, we head out for an evening ride to soak up all the evening rays we can. We’ll be leaving the bottom of King Eddy Rd at 6:00pm Thursday, June 21 for a tour of the Aberdeen Plateau.

The ride will suitable for beginner/intermediate level experience with speeds up to 50kmh on the main roads, slower on trails. We’ll be back down by 9:30-10:00pm, just before it gets dark enough to really need headlights.

Bugs are out so bring bug spray, a snack and a drink for one or more stops along the way.

Canada Day 2018 Help Needed

The ATV Club is part of Canada Day festivities in Polson Park for the third year. Last year was our fist year with the kiddie train and it was a hit with over 1,000 going for a ride.

Rides start at 10:00am and go to 4:00pm, we arrive at 8:00am to set up and are usually done and ready to leave by 5:00pm.

To make this year another success we need people to help with:

  • Morning set up of tents, tables, carts
  • Organizing riders into the carts
  • Driving the vehicles pulling the kiddie carts
  • Providing info to people visiting the club display
  • Take down and load out at the end of the day

Use the form below to let us know how you can help make 2018 a success.

Kiddie Cart Work Party

The kiddie train was a hit last year at the Canada Day festivities but we have a few more carts to finish and all need a coat of paint.

Venture up Silver Star Road to 8439 Ladner Road on Saturday, June 16 between 10:00am and 2:00pm where all the kiddie carts will be awaiting your creative ideas.

We’ll have the BBQ going to reward volunteers but the ride after the BBQ has been cancelled.

Let us know if you’re coming by 5:00pm Friday, June 15 so we can have food for everyone.

Irish Creek Ride Sunday

Steve’s report on the ride: Good ride but soaked, cold, and dead end. 7 of us started out, Jason broke down and went home, quite a bit of tree cutting, some huge, Daniel had his chainsaw. Barely got by first washout, second one 1/4 mile farther quads could have made, but badly undercut, so we turned around. Kept raining until we got back to stage area, then nice, 1 billion mosquitoes, 1 bear. Great ride!

Join Steve on another exploration of the trails of the North Okanagan. Meet up this Sunday, June 10 at the Tim Hortons by Walmart at 9:30am or drive to Irish Creek for 9:45.

Click here for directions to Irish Creek Road staging area.

Be aware this is a rural neighbourhood so ensure the road is not blocked and don’t be a jerko, keep the noise down and no burnouts on the roads.

Kelowna Poker Ride – June 3, 2018

A really fun ride, thanks to all the Kelowna ATV Club and Okanagan Trail Riders Association volunteers who put together a great poker ride. The poker ride markers were nicely spread across the Bear Creek trails so we rode lots of trails we’d never ridden before.
Kelowna ATV Club and the Bear Creek OHV Riders will hold a “Poker Ride & BBQ” at the Bear Creek OHV Riding Area on Sunday 3 June 2018. The ride is open to all club members and riders from the Summerland ATV Club, Vernon ATV Club and ATV riders from the Okanagan Trail Riders Association.
