Vernon Winter Carnival Pirate Parade

The Club’s third year in the parade earns our first “best” as the Best Specialty Vehicle. Huge credit to the pirate ship builders who cranked up the creativity and spent long hours converting their machines into parade winning warships.

Thanks to the ship building crew: Allen, Brodie, Christian, Clint, Dominic, Jarrett, Joe, Michael, Miranda, Rob and Shawndra.

Check out the Castanet video of the parade, we come in around 13:40

Thursday Ride at King Eddy

10:00am Thursday January 17

5 riders ventured to Island Lake for lunch, fighting their way along the main road that had been rutted up by a big 4×4. Lots of stucks but that just means lots of fun.

Let’s head out for another weekday exploration of the King Eddy trails for all those free to ride during the week. Meet at King Edward Lake Road on Highway 6 (9kms east of Vernon) at 10:00am Thursday January 17.

Come prepared for winter conditions both you and your machine. Bring a lunch, your camera and a healthy sense of adventure for checking out trails and taking in the sights.

Rides are open to everyone, we encourage you to come out for a couple of rides with the club to meet other riders, find new trails and get a sense of the club before you join.

The Vernon ATV Club promotes responsible all terrain vehicle use. Riders must must carry proof of $200,000 liability insurance for riding on forest service roads, driver’s license and quad riders must wear a helmet (side x side riders aren’t required by law to wear helmets but we recommend they do).

Rubber Ducky Ride at King Eddy

10:00am Sunday January 13

Ride Report and Photos
Steve leads another excellent ride, this time taking a group of 13 (that drops to 12 after a blown belt at 4km) up up and away out of the Okanagan Valley grey into the bright blue skies.

Snow is starting to get deep so taking the 17km connector trail was out, using Queen Road was out but heading to the tower provided an excellent view of the valley.

According to Sesame Street January 13 is Rubber Duckie’s birthday so don your bright yellow gear in support. More snow is coming to the high country but the lower trails were good riding last time out so we’ll explore the same area to see how far we get.

Meet up at King Edward Road on Highway 6 (9kms east of Vernon) at 10:00am Sunday, January 13. Come prepared for winter riding conditions, dress warm and make sure your machine is up for riding in powder.

Rides are open to everyone, we encourage you to come out for a couple of rides with the club to meet other riders, find new trails and get a sense of the club before you join.

Ready to Ride Like a Pirate?

11:00am Saturday February 2

Join the club at this fun family friendly community event as we ride through Downtown Vernon in the Vernon Winter Carnival Parade.

The first pirate ship is taking shape. 3 people worked a little over 2 hours to turn a La-Z-Boy box and a couple smaller boxes into this land yacht. A bit of paint, sheets for sails and ropes for rigging to go.

We’ve ordered some skull and crossbones flags, we need you to bring your pirate ship and costume. Everyone needs to be assembled by 11:00am on 27th Street near Seaton School with the parade getting underway at noon (ish).

Fill in the form below or email [email protected] if you want to attend the parade.
