2019 Member Survey

The Vernon ATV Club has one of the largest memberships in the province. Currently we have more than 150 members. However, only a small minority of members participate in club rides and other club activities.

We would appreciate your feedback on this matter. Perhaps there are some things that we could do to provide activities that more members would choose to participate in, so please take a minute or two to respond to the following questions. We will publish the results in an upcoming edition of the weekly email.

Chocolate Covered Raisins King Eddy Ride

Chocolate covered raisins ride showed us that the snow is pretty rotten right now, stay on the trails and roads.

10:00am Sunday March 24 – King Edward Lake Road

Another one of our “day of the year” rides, March 24 is National Chocolate Covered Raisins ride so grab your Glosettes and see you at 10:00am for a good ride on the Aberdeen Plateau.

Roads can be slippery at this time of year, be mindful that daytime melting turn the roads into skating rinks overnight and into the morning hours.

We’ll be going by King Edward Lake Rec Site on the way up and back where there is an outhouse (there wasn’t any TP a couple of weeks ago so bring your own).

Come prepared for spring/winter riding conditions, we’ll have a campfire so pack a lunch and bring your camera for the views we find.

Rides are open to everyone, we encourage new riders to come out for a couple of rides to meet club members, find new trails and get a sense of the club before joining.

The Vernon ATV Club promotes responsible all terrain vehicle use. Riders must must carry their driver’s license, vehicle registration, and proof of $200,000 liability insurance for riding on forest service roads. Quad riders must wear a helmet, side x side riders aren’t required by law to wear helmets but we recommend they do.

International Day of Awesomeness Drift Ride

Yes it was the International Day of Awesomeness, sun, warm temperatures, friendly folks that shared their lunch campfire and a few interesting adventures.

The first adventure was fearless leader Steve showing us how amazing his new machine was in snow, until it wasn’t. After riding down to King Edward Lake then almost back to the road the mighty Can-Am became beached a long, long way from the road so every tow strap we had was put to use to reach the nearest tree. Steve was eventually back on the road and learned his lesson, BRP also makes Ski-Doo products for deep snow riding.

After lunch and chatting with the friendly campfire folks we were heading for Grizzly Lake but a quick stop at the Island Lake Rec Site revealed two Toyota trucks stuck a long way off the road. Steve and Len formed a towing company and recovered the closer truck almost to the road where a passing Dodge pickup yanked him the rest of the way to safety.

Check out the towing/winching videos on our Facebook page.

11:00am Sunday, March 10 – King Eddy Road

Heading out from the bottom of King Eddy Road (10kms east of Vernon on Hwy 6) at 11:00am Sunday, March 10. Remember it’s the time change on Sunday so check your clocks and don’t be late.

The road is plowed all the way to Dee Lake Main so we’re going to head up King Eddy in search of a good lunch destination, to see how many viewpoints we can access and possibly to enjoy some warmer temperatures (forecast calls for +7 by the weekend – but do we believe it?).

Come prepared for winter riding conditions, we’ll have a campfire so pack a lunch and bring your camera for the views we find.

Rides are open to everyone, we encourage new riders to come out for a couple of rides to meet club members, find new trails and get a sense of the club before joining.
