A good turnout for the Browne Lake Ride south of Kelowna last weekend. A missed turn meant the narrow section was avoided, boy it looks different under snow. A beautiful day out in the sun exploring the area south of Browne and Fish Lake, thanks for leading the ride Jason, Denis and Chris!

Jason has offered to lead a ride to Browne Lake in the Kelowna area on Sunday, December 10.

If you’re coming from the north you can meet Jason at the Tim Horton’s by the Four Points Sheraton opposite the Kelowna Airport entrance (turn right to get to Tim Horton’s, not left into the Kelowna Airport), roll out from Tim Horton’s at 9:30 for the staging area at the intersection of Myra FSR and McCulloch Road.

The ride heads out at 10:30am, there are a couple of spots that are intermediate to upper intermediate ability level sections of trail but as with all rides we will help people through or around everything we encounter along the ride.

There are narrow sections on this ride so maximum 50″ wide machines for this one.

Dress for winter conditions and bring a lunch. Everyone is welcome to attend, non-members are encouraged to come out to see what the club is about, meet some folks and find new trails.

Ready to ride at 10:00am sharp Sunday, December 3 at the cattleguard at the bottom of Noble Canyon Road in Lavington. Unload at the cattleguard then park your vehicle on either side of the road back toward the highway.

We’ll start on the Becker Lake side and if we have time we’ll head over to the Bardolph side. Come prepared for winter riding conditions and bring something to have at or over the lunch campfire.

Club rides are open to everyone, non-members are invited to attend a couple of rides to meet people, find new trails and get a taste for the club.

Ride Sunday at 10:00am at King Eddy Join Steve this Sunday, November 26 for the Black Drift Sunday Ride that will head south past Wilma Lake to Beaver Lake and beyond.

There will be some FSR, trail and stopping to enjoy the views and BS. Come ready for variable weather from rain to snow as the forecast all over the place right now. We usually have a campfire so bring something to cook over the fire.

Everyone is welcome to attend, non-members are invited to come out for a couple rides to meet people, find new trails and check out the club.

Heading out from the bottom of King Eddy Road at 11:00am on Sunday, November 12, we’re looking for the perfect tree for to adorn the clubhouse for our Christmas Party.

The weather forecast is calling for slightly warmer temperatures (+6 degrees) but there will still be snow at higher elevations so come ready for winter conditions. As always pack a lunch, camera and the safety gear necessary for a ride.

Heading out from the staging area on Irish Creek at 10:00am Sunday, November 5, this ride will venture past Little Pinaus lake and wander the trails above the west side of Okanagan Lake.

The forecast is calling for a high of 0 degrees and sunny for Sunday, combine that with the snow anticipated between now and then and it should be a picturesque ride through the fluffy stuff at times (all the time?).

You’ll need to come prepared for winter riding and bring the usual stuff including lunch, your camera and safety gear. We’ll get a fire going at lunch time to warm up and if you want to cook over the campfire.

We will try to find a recreation site on our ride for bathroom facilities.

Rides are open to non-members to come test ride the club for a couple of rides so invite your friends.

Two views or not two views started off in the fog at King Eddie staging site with a chill in the air. As we climbed in altitude we left the fog behind, and proceeded to the cement mixer site to show to some of the new riders in club. Next we headed back up and turned off traveling towards the lobster trail, was lots of clearing to get the big side by sides up the tunnel, but no problem. Stopped at the towers for our first view of the valley fog but it cleared off just as we wrapped up lunch and carried on to Tween Lakes lookout. The roads were wet enough there was no dust, so a pleasant ride. On way back stopped at King Eddie Lake for a snack, the level of lake is incredibly low.

All in all a great ride, and I got to explain how raisins were made, so educational too.

Join Grey Leader (Steve) ready to ride at 10:00am Sunday, October 29 at King Eddy for a family friendly tour of Aberdeen Plateau trails including stops at two viewpoints high above the valley fog.

As mentioned this is a family friendly ride so the pace won’t be very fast and there will be stops along the way to take in the sights and chat with other riders.

You don’t need to be a Vernon ATV Club member to attend, take a couple rides with us to see if the club is a good fit for you.

We came up just short making it to the lookout, no matter with a fun group of riders and a long lunch break just below the howling wind and almost zero visibility where we turned around.

It’s a go, we weren’t sure how much it might snow this week but it looks like there hasn’t been much accumulation at higher elevations yet so we’re going to head to the lookout.

Meet at the pullout on the east side of the Enderby Bridge at 9:00am. For those traveling from Vernon we’ll be leaving the parking lot by Tim Horton’s on 58th Avenue at 8:30am and if you’d like to attend but want to catch a ride email info@vernonatvclub.ca or call 250-550-5290.

Not going to sugarcoat this, near the top the road to the lookout is rough but it’s one heck of a view when you get to the top that makes it all worthwhile.

Rides are open to club members, friends, guests and anyone interested in joining us for a ride. All ability levels are welcome, if you encounter a section of trail above your comfort level we’ll help you through or find a way around it. Get in touch if you have any questions!

What a long weekend, I was fortunate to take part in the Barriere ride then back it up with a ride in the Edgewood area Sunday then popped up to Eureka Lookout on the drive home on Monday.

Each day the rides took us up into the snow and to peaks with views of the surrounding country.

Daniel Raitt and his dad Warren spent the days before the ride brushing and flagging the route and it showed, we didn’t have to stop once to cut downed trees and the ride flowed smoothly across the amazingly diverse terrain throughout the day. From flowy old roads to technical trails through the forest, rock crawling in dry creekbeds, slip sliding on snowy roads and the runout on fall coloured tree lined trails, the ride had smiles on faces all day (except when faces were too frozen to smile).

It’s road trip time, Daniel will be home from BCIT for Thanksgiving and offered to take us out for a ride. The plan is to be ready to ride at 10:00am Saturday, October 7 in Barriere.

We’ll carpool and convoy from Vernon to Barriere, it takes roughly 2 hours to get there so we’ll be leaving Vernon 7:00-7:30am
