GPS Training Recap
Thanks Grahame for putting on an informative GPS Training course. The attendees soaked up Grahame’s teachings and after a bit of wandering back and forth looking for the first hidden coordinate, they quickly picked up the scent and found their remaining waypoints.
After the training a few riders hung around and we meandered the trails out to Cooper’s Launch to watch the paragliders take off then tried to skirt the edge of Silver Star park but were thwarted by snow at 1250m.
We’ll be doing another training course to get more people up to speed, stay tuned!
It’s one of the most important devices to have with you in the backcountry but do you really know how to use your GPS?
Starting at 10:00am at the bottom of Noble Canyon Road Sunday, May 13. The course will start from scratch and cover:
- creating waypoints
- navigating to waypoints
- creating a track of your ride
Bring a lunch, your GPS (or come with someone with a GPS) and your all-terrain vehicle. Members, friends and the general public is welcome to attend.
It would be helpful if you’re able to familiarize yourself with your GPS functions by reading the manual or watching something on Youtube, but it’s not critical. Get in touch if you have any questions.
