Noon start time, Sunday May 12
Ride Recap: Jim lead an amazing ride along trails that only locals know (thanks Harvey) and to some spectacular viewpoints.
We are riding on Sunday but to allow everyone time with their mother we will start at noon (noon is when the ride leaves the staging area). Station FSR is approximately 50 minutes from Vernon.
Daryll, John and I pre-ran the route on Monday. We ran into Harley who was out checking fences on his ATV. He showed us lots of ATV trails you would never find on your own. The resulting ride was one of the best I have been on in many years. It’s 75% ATV trail with low grass and pretty much dust free, we rode 75km in 5 hours.
There will be a turn around and break at the mid point where we can adjust to ensure we’re back by 5 pm.
The start will on the very bottom of Station Rd FSR in Westwold. Station Rd heads north from highway 97 in the middle of the long straight in Westwold. There is lots of parking just off the road at the bottom and if there is a big turn out, you can park on Station Rd.
We will leave promptly at 12 noon and won’t have a lunch break. There will be a break at the turn around where you can grab a snack. Riding speed overall is low as the ATV trails are narrow. Bring your camera as there are some great views.
If you have any questions email Jim Bowie at [email protected]. It will help if we have some idea of numbers so a quick email would be appreciated.
Rides and events are open to everyone, we encourage new riders to come out for a couple of rides to meet club members, find new trails and get a sense of the club before joining.
The Vernon ATV Club promotes responsible all terrain vehicle use. Riders must must carry their driver’s license, vehicle registration, and proof of $200,000 liability insurance for riding on forest service roads. Quad riders must wear a helmet, side x side riders aren’t required by law to wear helmets but we recommend they do.
