Ready to ride at 10:00am Sunday, September 8
Thanks Jim for suggesting this ride to an area very few people have ridden before. From Vernon it will take about 1 hour and 15 minutes to the staging area and the ride departs at 10:00am so you’ll need to be heading out of town by 8:30am.
It takes about 1 hour 15 minutes to get there and if you want to follow Jim as he heads east along Highway 6 to the staging area you need to be ready to leave King Eddy at 8:45am. Please shoot an email to [email protected] so he knows you’re coming.

Head east on Highway 6, reset your trip meter when you hit the 4-Way Stop in Lumby, from there continue east on Highway 6 for 62km then turn right onto the Strutell Forest Service Road. Before reaching Strutell you will pass the Kettle FSR on your right (8km before the staging area) and Keefe Lake turnoff on your left (1km before the staging area).
The ride is roughly 50% on good FSR and 50% slower trails with lots of stops for pictures and the destination being high atop Cortiana for a great view. The plan is to finish up around 3/3:30 and then head back to town.
Rides and events are open to everyone, we encourage new riders to come out for a couple of rides to meet club members, find new trails and get a sense of the club before joining.
The Vernon ATV Club promotes responsible all terrain vehicle use. Riders must must carry their driver’s license, vehicle registration, and proof of $200,000 liability insurance for riding on forest service roads. Quad riders must wear a helmet, side x side riders aren’t required by law to wear helmets but we recommend they do.
