Lumby Days Parade

Lumby Days Parade Report – a great turnout of both parade entries and people out to watch. A really fun event to participate in just for the joy of watching little kids react when you wave to them, most would start waving back like crazy… until their hands shot to cover their ears when the tow truck behind us would sound his train horn and scare the crap out of them.

Join the club as we ride the streets of Lumby in the Lumby Days Parade Saturday, June 10. Meet at the industrial park east of Lumby at 9:30am to assemble and decorate, the parade rolls at 11:00am and should wrap up around 12:30pm. Please let us know if you’re coming by email, use the form below, on facebook or comment on this page.

The parade theme is Canada 150, the club has a lot of flags and other decorating items but you can bring your own decorations if you have them.

Consider staying in Lumby all day to check out the many activities including:

  • Pony cart rides
  • Midway rides
  • Pioneer power display
  • Show & shine
  • Live entertainment
  • Bing
  • Freestyle motocross
  • Helicopter rides
  • Wrestling

and more, check out the Lumby Days schedule

2017 King Eddy Road Cleanup

The weather turned decidedly summer-like on Saturday May 20 for our annual cleanup on King Eddy Road. 22 members of the Vernon ATV Club as well as members of Kelowna and Salmon Arm ATV Clubs and area residents put in hard work in the hot sun picking up other people’s garbage.

We filled a 15 cubic yard bin to the brim with garbage, it weighed 2,625lbs. We were also able to sort off several truckloads of recyclable steel into the salvage pile and wood for recycling by chipping.

Notable items picked up:

  • Truck canopy pulled from King Eddy Lake
  • Hot water tank winched from steep ditch
  • Two garbage bags of shotgun shells (500+ shells)
  • Damaged culvert and over 1,000lbs of metal diverted to the scrap steel pile

We thank the following companies for their help in making our cleanup anther huge success:

And of course a huge thank you to everyone who volunteered a day from your long weekend to clean up after stupid people. We appreciate your effort!

If you need an excavator, some earth moved or a garbage bin rental call Silvercrest Trucking & Excavating Bin Rental

There is a BBQ for all cleanup volunteers at 1:30pm so please let us know if you’re coming so we have enough food for everyone, sign up below!

Mt Ida ride with Salmon Arm/Enderby Club

Ride Report: WOW!

That sums it up pretty well, one of those days that goes to the top of your list for all time great rides. Thanks in large part to the Walker family going out several times to pre-ride, cut blowdown and make alternate trail choices around the landslides.

Thank you Martina, Brenda and Allen for all the work and a great ride!

The first real ride of the spring season that spanned more than 75km, stopped at numerous viewpoints, tackled all kinds of different trail conditions and stopped for drinks and story time on the way home, a good day!

This late spring and slow snow melt kept us from pinning down a location for this ride until now. Thanks to Allen and Brenda for pre-riding to make sure we could get through.

The ride is open to club members, friends, guests and anyone who wants to come along.

The ride heads out from the parking areas on the FSR at 10:00am, expected return to the vehicles is 3:00-4:00pm. Ride distance is estimated at 60km.

For riders leaving from Vernon we’ll meet at the north Tim Hortons on 58th Avenue (across from Wal Mart), the convoy leaving there at  at 8:45am for the ride staging area.

Come prepared for early spring weather which when combined with higher elevations can mean rain or snow. Bring a lunch, not sure if we’ll have a campfire but we’ll try. Don’t know if there are any outhouses along the ride for bathroom breaks.

After getting to the FSR shown on the map above drive up and park at one of the locations shown on the map
